About the Sika Sikafloor Marine VEM X - 16kg

Sikafloor® Marine VEM X is a 1-component light weight visco-elastic mortar where the consitency can be adjusted according to the required application. It is specifically designed to be used in combination with electro-galvanized steel plates to reduce low frequency structure borne noise.Sikafloor® Marine VEM X is tested according to FTP Code system and approved according to the IMO Marine Equipment Directives.

Applications

Sikafloor® Marine VEM X is applied on interior decks and bulkheads as a visco-elastic adhesive in VEM Steel systems. It is suitable for application in wet and dry accommodation areas, in combination with Sikafloor® Marine levelling or acoustic systems.This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Test with actual substrates and conditions have to be performed ensuringadhesion and material compatibility.

  • Surface PreparationThe surface has to be clean, free from dust, grease, oils and other substances, which may impair adhesion. Rust has to be removed with a steel brush or other appropriate means, followed by vacuum cleaning. Note: The corrosion protection need to be intact prior the application of Sikafloor® Marine VEM X. Applications on aluminum or zinc rich shop primer coated decks, require a tie coat of SikaCor® ZP Primer or another suitable tie coat.
  • ApplicationApply the mortar with an appropiate notched trowel to get a layer thickness according to the selected application.The product can be applied on both vertical and horizontal surfaces. For vertical application two methods are possible with and without stud bolts. Consult the relevant Apllication manualfor detailed application information. Sikafloor® Marine VEM X has to be applied within 20 minutes after mixing. At temperatures above 30 °C the open time will be reduced to 10 minutes or less.
  • CuringAfter application, the finished areas have to be protected against direct heat (e.g. cutting or welding from beneath), sunlight and draught during the curing process for at least 12 hours.
  • RemovalExcess material can best be removed before curing with a trowel wipe or water. Fresh Sikafloor® Marine VEM X may be removed from tools and equipment with water. Once cured, the material can only be removed mechanically. Exposed hands and skin shall be washed immediately with water. Use a suitable skin protection hand cream.
