ERS Marine Complete Acoustic Solution For High Profile Cruise Line

Resin flooring, acoustic dampening, cruise ship flooring

ERS Marine

ERS Marine were called upon to resolve an unusual issue that arose with slip resistant tiles installed during the vessel build within a busy catering corridor. The tiles used were indeed slip resistant but when the trollies full of plates and crockery were rolled over the surface the noise produced was immense and transferred directly to the adjacent cabins!

Fortunately ERS Marine in conjunction with Sika had the solution. The corridor could only be closed off for a limited time therefore we needed to use fast curing materials which would allow an early return to service. The ERS team boarded the ship on its weekly turnaround day and removed all tiles and prepared the subfloor. The floor was primed using a fast cure boosted primer followed by Sika’s new IMO 560 Boosted levelling system that can cure in as little as 15 minutes, allowing the next stage in the process to take place almost instantaneously! This was overlaid with Sikafloor Marine 590 (boosted) with a decorative finish followed by 2 clear seals. The floor was handed back ready for use within 72 hours.
